Description
This milestone, located about 35 metres northwest of The Crown Inn on the west side of the A46, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a round-headed design with a shaped cast-iron plate attached to the front. The plate has raised lettering indicating the distances to Christian Malford (14 miles), Pucklechurch (4 miles), and Bristol (11 miles). This milestone marks the turnpike road that connected Christian Malford in Wiltshire to Pucklechurch, Mangotsfield, and Bristol.
