Description

The Crown Inn is an inn built in the early 18th century, with 19th and 20th century alterations and additions. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with stone dressings and features a double Roman tiled roof with raised coped verges, ridge and gable stacks, and a ball finial on the right gable end. The porch has a stone tiled roof. The building is 2½ storeys high and has two windows on the front.

On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casements with flat surrounds, shaped mullions, and dripstones. To the right, there is a gabled porch with a cambered head opening and shaped chamfered jambs. The first floor also has two 2-light casements with chamfered mullions and dripstones, along with two small gables, each featuring a similar 2-light casement. There is a straight joint on the left side of the ground floor indicating a former door. To the left, there is a 2-storey 19th century addition with two windows. The ground floor of this addition has a 20th century door with a hood to the left, two 2-light casements with chamfered mullions, and a segmental head that remains from a former door, along with two smaller casements under the eaves and a single-storey lean-to on the left.

At the rear, there is a large single-storey flat-roofed 20th century extension. The first floor features, from left to right, a 2-light casement similar to those on the main front, a 9-pane fixed light, and another 2-light casement. In the lower addition, there are two single-light casements and one 2-light casement under the eaves. The ground floor on the right has two 2-light casements like those at the front. The interior has not been inspected.
