Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was refronted in the late 18th century, originally built in the 17th century, with 19th and 20th-century alterations and additions. The front is made of limestone ashlar, while the left side is rubble and rendered. The roof is slate with a catslide at the rear, and the building has a U-shaped plan formed by two single-storey rear wings.

The farmhouse has two storeys and five windows, all of which are sashes in plain surrounds. The central first-floor window is a round-headed sash with splayed glazing bars, and there is a central six-panelled door with a fanlight featuring radial glazing bars. The door is topped by a reeded lintel and is sheltered by a flat-roofed porch with pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet. There is a band course above the ground floor windows and quoin strips on the sides. Notably, the first-floor windows do not align with the internal floor level, which is visible across the windows.

On the left side, there is a 12-pane window with a hood mould that lights the stair at the first floor left, a small 20-pane sash in the attic, and a catslide roof extending to the ground floor level. To the left, there is a 20-pane sash window and a 20th-century window at ground floor level. The right side features a small attic light, a 16-pane sash at ground floor level, and a 4-pane sash on the first floor, along with a single-storey addition that has a two-light casement and a stable door with strap hinges.

At the rear, there is a partly glazed wall at ground floor level under the catslide. Inside the covered area at the back of the house, there is a heavy plank and batten door and a 20-pane sash window; the inner sides of the wings each have a door.

The interior includes a wide entrance hall with a late 18th or early 19th-century straight stair. The front left room features a stone winder stair leading to the first floor, which continues in wood to the attic, along with boxed beams and a moulded cornice. The rear right room has a large fireplace with a pointed segmental chamfered head and an oven to the right, as well as panelled cupboards with pierced hearts on both sides and heavy beams.
