Description

Ye Olde Inn is an inn that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from limestone and pennant rubble, topped with a stone tiled roof, while the addition to the right and the rear features a double Roman tiled roof. The building originally had a through passage plan and stands at 2½ storeys tall with three windows across the front.

On the ground floor, there are two wooden casements with three lights of unequal sizes, and a door located to the right of center, which is sheltered by a flat stone hood supported by brackets. The first floor features an 18-pane horizontal sliding sash window to the left and two 2-light wooden casements to the right. The facade is adorned with two large gables, each containing a 2-light casement. To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to with a 3-light casement, while the 1½ storey wing on the right includes a 3-pane window (which was formerly a door), a 2-light window, and a 3-pane light situated under the eaves, along with a 20th-century double door.

The left side of the building has a 2-light casement on the first floor and an 8-pane horizontal sliding sash under the eaves. At the rear, there is a small single-storey 20th-century extension, two 2-light casements, and a door inside, along with two similar windows on the first floor, and two 2-light dormers—one with a gable to the left and the other to the right. A single-storey 20th-century addition with two windows is located on the right, while the addition to the left features roofs of varying heights at the back, garage doors, and a 20th-century door and windows.

Inside, the ground floor to the left has chamfered beams, and the door to the front right room has a cambered head. The front left attic room contains a door with a triangular head and a chamfered frame, complete with strap hinges. The rear wall of the building is approximately one meter thick.
