Description
Bath Lodge is a lodge built between 1796 and 1816 as part of the rebuilding of Dodington Park by James Wyatt. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a shallow domed copper roof with slate chimney pots, showcasing a classical style. The building is a two-storey rotunda with a Tuscan colonnade consisting of nine bays that end in square engaged columns. This colonnade rises from a low plinth adorned with a fluted frieze. The central entrance includes a panelled and glazed door with an overlight, flanked by sash windows in plain reveals with cills. On either side of the entrance are two blind windows and outer sashes. The colonnade supports a plain frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The upper storey has six round-headed sash windows with splayed glazing bars, along with a cornice and blocking course, and features clustered central chimney pots made of shaped slates. At the rear, there is a projecting bay that fills the colonnade area, which includes a central door with an overlight, blind windows on the right and left, and a 20th-century window inserted to the right. Pilasters are positioned between the door and the windows, with a blocking course above raised over the central bay. The interior has not been inspected.
