Description

Northwick Lodge is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some later alterations. It is built of rubble that is rendered and scored to resemble ashlar at the front, featuring a plain tiled roof with bargeboards on the gables and a decorative eaves cornice. The house has an L-shaped plan and a symmetrical front, with two storeys and three windows, all of which are three-light casements with five panes in each light and stepped voussoirs. The central entrance features a trellis porch and a door with two raised panels, flanked by quoin strips.

The left side of the building has buttresses, while the rear wing is two storeys high and has two windows with varied casements that have segmental heads, along with a French window on the right. The rear of the house has all 20th-century windows, and the side wall of the wing includes a recess for a churn and a plaque for the Hathaway butter maker. Inside, there is a winder stair with a wreathed handrail and a flagstone floor. At the time of the survey in July 1984, the property was in the process of restoration.
