ST 58 NE PILNING AND SEVERN NORTHWICK ROAD (south side) BEACH Northwick 7/239 Northwick Lodge

House. Early C19 with later alterations. Rubble, rendered and scored as ashlar at front, plain tiled roof with bargeboards to gables, decorative eaves cornice, gable stacks, concrete pantiled roof to rear. L-plan, symmetrical front. 2 storeys, 3 windows, all 3-light casements with 5 panes each light, stepped voussoirs, central trellis porch, door with 2 raised panels, quoin strips. Left return has buttresses, rear wing of 2 storeys and 2 windows, varied casements with segmental head, French window to right. Rear has all C20 windows, side wall of wing has recess for churn and plaque for Hathaway butter maker. Interior: winder stair with wreathed handrail, flagstone floor. In course of restoration at time of survey (July 1984).
