Description

Mill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into two houses. It dates from the early 17th century and may include parts of an earlier building, with some later alterations. The structure is built of rubble, partly rendered, and has a pantiled roof featuring a gable stack and a ridge stack. The layout is T-shaped, with a former through passage.

The southeast side, which is now the rear, is 1½ storeys high and features a heavy-framed plank and batten door with a timber lintel and a 20th-century porch. There are two ground floor windows, also with timber lintels, and two roof-lights, all dating from the 20th century. The southwest elevation is two storeys tall with three 20th-century windows, and the roofline steps down to the left, supported by buttresses. The rear, now the front, has a variety of 20th-century windows and a porch.

Inside, the ground floor east room has a blocked door with a pointed arch, a large fireplace with a deep chamfered lintel, chamfered jambs, and a bread oven to the left, along with a bacon-smoking chamber to the right. There are deep chamfered beams, a 20th-century stair with small blocked windows that previously lit the stair, and a beam with a chamfer about 30 centimetres deep at the foot of the stair. The first floor features a plank and batten door with a four-centred arch.
