Description
Westend Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with additions and alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It features a combination of rubble, rendered surfaces, and brick, topped with a concrete double Roman tiled roof for the main house and wings, along with brick gable stacks and a ridge stack. The building is arranged in a U-plan, originally designed with a through passage. It has two storeys and five windows, all of which are sashes with cills. The central entrance consists of a studded door made of three planks, complete with a decorative handle and a moulded frame, and is topped by a triangular hood supported by brackets.
To the east, there is a two-storey 17th-century wing that includes a three-light casement window on both the ground and first floors, with a cellar beneath. This wing has battered walls and creates an inner courtyard at the rear, which features a covered area with a pitched roof supported by timber piers, along with a plank door leading to the cellar and a pump. The two-storey wing to the west has a variety of windows and a plank door set in a moulded frame. At the rear of the main house, there are two sashes on the first floor and one on the ground floor to the right, with a door to the left similar to the front, showing a chevroned repair at the base and a bolection moulded frame. The interior has not been inspected.
