Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century and further modifications later on. It is constructed of rubble and roughcast, with brick and stone dressings, and features a slate roof with raised coped verges and external gable stacks. The rear wings are covered with double Roman tiles. The building is arranged in a U-plan, which has been infilled, and originally included a through passage.
The farmhouse stands 2½ storeys tall and has four windows, all of which are 3-light wooden casements, with smaller versions in the attic storey. The ground floor features two metal framed windows, one on each side of a central porch. The porch has a gable with raised coped verges and kneelers, and a basket arched opening surrounded by gauged brick with a keystone. There are pointed arched lights on each side with original window fittings and deep splayed reveals. The front door is a four-panelled and glass door set in a moulded frame.
On the east side, there is a single-storey extension, while the east wing is two storeys high with three windows. The first floor has a 19th-century 3-light casement on the left, and the ground floor has a 17th-century 3-light casement with iron stanchions and loop catches, while the remaining windows are 20th-century casements. The west side features a ground floor 2-light casement with iron stanchions and a similar window at the first floor with loop catches. The rear includes a 20th-century window to the left and a two-storey 20th-century extension.
Inside, the farmhouse has a cellar, panelled doors, and a lattice door in the former cheese room. The beams are chamfered and stopped, and a rear door, possibly reset from the former cross passage position, is a plank and batten door with strap hinges, with pintles still in the former door opening. The roof structure includes collar, king-post, and principal rafters, and there is a stud and rail partition with chamfered and run-out stopped rails that divides the front and rear attics.
