Description
Farmhouse. It likely dates back to the early 17th century, with a stone datestone from 1620 found in the yard, a dedication 1678/WKI in the southeast gable, and another from 1838 on the front. Later alterations have occurred. The house is constructed of limestone and sandstone rubble, with prominent quoins, stone dressings, and a concrete tiled roof with double Roman tiles on the sides. It features stacks with diagonal chimneys and a gable stack to the left. Decorative bargeboards and finials adorn the front gables. The building has an L-shaped plan with a central entrance passage and stair lobby. It is two and a half storeys high, with three windows and two large gables rising to the ridge. On the ground floor, the window to the left is a four-light casement with ovolo mullions, leaded lights, and decorative catches. A central gabled porch has a depressed, four-centred arched, chamfered opening with a slit window on each side, and a 19th-century inner door within a similar surround. Above, on the first floor, are four-light casements with chamfered wooden mullions, moulded surrounds, and leaded lights, and a two-light casement with an ovolo mullion and iron stanchion, along with another similar two-light casement with leaded lights. The left gable has a 20th-century window. All windows have a drip mould and a sandstone relieving arch. A single-storey lean-to is attached to the left. The right return has two windows, and the first floor has a 19th-century three-light window with plate glass sashes, and an attic gable window with eight panes and an iron stanchion, moulded frame, and relieving arch. The rear has a gable to the right with a 20th-century window, and a plank door in a plain frame within a lean-to with 20th-century windows. The interior has not been inspected.
