Description

Foxhole Farmhouse, originally known as Pilning Farmhouse, has a late 16th-century origin with alterations and additions in the 17th, 18th, and later centuries. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble, with a rendered front, and has a pantiled roof with a brick gable stack on the right and a ridge stack. The building is arranged in an L-shape, formerly incorporating a through passage. It is two and a half storeys high and has three windows. The ground floor has two two-light casements with ovolo mullions, and two three-light casements on the right side. A central gabled porch features a 20th-century door. The first floor has a two-light casement with ovolo mullions to the left, and two three-light casements to the right and two dormers, each with three-light casements. A single-storey lean-to is located to the left. The left return displays two small attic windows, while the former roof line is visible. The right return has 20th-century windows and a door, and includes a one-and-a-half-story wing. Inside, the kitchen fireplace has chamfered beams with scroll-stopped stops and a lintel.
