Description

The stables, along with attached walls and entrance piers, are located about 50 metres to the west of Pypers in Rudgeway. These structures date from the early 19th century and are built from rubble with stone dressings and brick. The northern stable block is a single storey with an attic, featuring a loading dormer, two carriage entries, a door with a cambered head, and a sash window with glazing bars on each side. It also includes a ventilation louvre and a weathervane. The southern block has a pointed arched door in a brick surround, two carriage entries, and ball finials on the gables. A stair leads to the attic, where a pointed arched door is repeated at the attic level. The side of this block is rendered. Surrounding the stables is a rubble wall with brick and stone coping, featuring a pointed arched opening leading to the garden. The entrance is marked by brick piers with stone plinths and hipped tops.
