Description
Whiteshill School is a school building constructed in 1910, likely designed by R Phillips, who was the architect for the Gloucestershire Education Committee. The structure is made of rubble with bands of freestone and features plain clay tile roofs.
The east elevation has two storeys, with kitchen, dining, and ancillary spaces on the ground floor. It showcases a long range of glazing bar sash windows beneath swept eaves supported by brackets. A gable rises on the left side, accompanied by two gablets, all framed by clasping pilasters. There is a dormer located off-centre to the left, and large paired stacks that also serve as a bell-cote.
On the west elevation, there is a gabled parallel range on the left, which includes an ashlar half-glazed entrance beneath a framed hipped dormer. This side also features a three-light gable similar to that on the east. The school was officially opened on 11th January 1911 and remains mainly in its original state, representing a very good example of its period.
