Description
This mid-to-late 19th-century building is located on the east side of Castle Street, Thornbury. It is constructed of red brick with occasional courses of concrete, used for quoins and dressings. The roof is double Roman tiled, with ashlar stacks featuring moulded caps. The building is two storeys high, with two windows on each floor. The windows are sash windows with two vertical glazing bars, set within cambered heads that have keystones. The ground floor bays have hipped tiled roofs and a dentilled eaves cornice. There is a brick cornice, bracketted eaves, and a string course. The doorway to No. 8 is adjacent to that of No. 6 (see listing for No. 6). The building is included on the list because of its contribution to the group value of the street.
