Description

No. 12 Castle Street is a mid-18th century remodelling of a 17th century house. The building is rendered and has a pantile roof, with modern central brick stacks. It is two storeys and an attic in height, with five windows on the front elevation. These consist of four glazing bar sashes, and a central projecting gabled oriel with a bargeboard and a 1-3-1 light casement supported on posts. The ground floor has two bays with glazing bar sashes. Catslide dormers are visible, each with a casement window. A two-panel oak door, with a moulded frame and pilasters leads into the building. The building is finished with a coped parapet. A single-storey wing extends to the left, featuring early 20th century double doors and a parapet. The building was formerly listed as the house adjoining and to the north of Wigmore House.
