Description
Wigmore House is a late 17th century building, possibly a remodelling of an earlier structure, which was altered and extended in the 18th century. The exterior is rendered and features a double Roman tiled roof. The house has two storeys and an attic, with three windows: two-storey bays and modern glazing bar sashes with 12 and 16 panes, along with 2-light casements for the dormers. The central entrance has a six-panel door beneath a segmental hood supported by scroll brackets.
Inside, the rear wing contains a late 17th century parlour with moulded beams and a fine decorative plaster ceiling on the ground floor, as well as incised plaster decoration on the ceiling of the first-floor landing. The open well staircase features twisted balusters and a moulded handrail. There are spice cupboards with scratch moulded doors on both the ground and first floors. An external door at the foot of the stairs has a scroll and ovolo moulded frame with elaborate converging stops.
