Description
This is a retaining wall and steps located 60 yards south of Leyhill, built around 1850 by S.S. Teulon, with the steps added in the 20th century. The retaining wall is made of coursed rubble and stands approximately 6 feet high, topped with ashlar saddleback coping. It features buttresses at intervals with squat uprights that once supported ball finials; now, the center and ends carry heraldic supporters. There is a central flight of 10 steps flanked by walls. The wall runs the entire length of the south terrace, which was previously a formal garden.
