Description

A planned terrace of four small houses, built in the mid-19th century on the south side of South Hill, Stoke, Plymouth. The houses are constructed of stucco with stucco detailing, and have asbestos slate roofs hidden behind a stuccoed parapet with a moulded cornice. Five roof dormers are present, four of which have hipped roofs, and there are brick end stacks.

The houses follow a double-depth plan, with one room at the front of each, and an entrance hall to the right. They are two storeys plus an attic, and have an overall four-window range, with a mid-floor band, and the central houses projecting forward slightly. Original twelve-pane hornless sash windows are present, except for replacement horned windows in the house on the left. Two of the houses have pilastered doorways, each with a moulded hood supported by brackets and a panelled door.

The interior of the houses has not been inspected, but is likely to be largely unaltered.

Attached stuccoed forecourt walls extend to meet low plinth walls across the front of the terrace. These walls incorporate spear-headed railings and gates.
