Description
The former Royal Naval Hospital octagonal posting box, located immediately south of the pay office, was built between 1853 and 1859 for the Royal Naval Hospital, likely cast by a contractor for the Post Office. This post box is made of painted red cast-iron and features an octagonal pillar with angle beading, a flat moulded cap, and a moulded base with a shallow plinth. It has a vertical posting slit with an external flap. This posting box is part of a significant group of military hospital buildings.
