Description

The walling in the yard of the College of Art and Design, constructed around 1880, is designed to resemble a ruined building and incorporates some reused masonry from the demolished Palace Court mansion. The wall is made of Plymouth limestone rubble and features elements from the 16th and 17th centuries. It includes two 17th-century granite 2-light chamfered mullioned windows and a 16th-century granite doorway with a 4-centred arched moulding, which has a 2-light overlight made from 17th-century chamfered fragments. The doorway is located to the left of the front, with one window on the right and another on the left-hand return.
