Description
The wall surrounding the garden at the front of Winslow Hall dates from the early 18th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed of brick and encloses three sides of the garden. The southern wall features plain stone coping. A central curving section includes square-plan gate piers and a wrought iron gate, which was rebuilt and altered in 1959, as indicated by the date on the gate. The eastern wall has rounded brick coping and a pair of 18th-century gate piers with a wrought iron gate at the northern end. These gate piers are made of red brick with fine gauged joints, moulded corners, and moulded stone bases and caps topped with ball finials. Carved stone scrolls connect the piers to the tops of the walls. Although the western wall has been mostly rebuilt, it remains included for its group value.
