Description
The Observation Tower by the Dome is located in a public park on The Hoe in Plymouth. Built in the late 19th century, it features a granite plinth and is primarily constructed from Plymouth limestone, which is arranged in courses. The tower has a small octagonal shape and includes an embattled parapet with a cavetto cornice. At the landward end, there is a low chamfered doorway with a planked door, and a sill string connects chamfered blind windows on the other sides. This tower is part of a notable group of garden buildings on The Hoe, which were extended and replanned in the 1880s.
