Description
The Bell House, located on Kewstoke Road, is a Grade II* listed building believed to date from the late medieval period, with significant alterations made in the mid to late 17th century. The structure is built of rubble with a slate roof and tiles at the rear. It stands two storeys high and features four original cross casement windows. The building has an L-plan layout with a wing at the rear. There is a later porch, but it retains a 17th-century door and an inner door, along with overhanging eaves.
Inside, the main part of the house has a well-preserved 17th-century A-frame roof. In the rear wing, there are remnants of cruck construction, along with a moulded 17th-century wall plate and an arch-braced collar. The ceiling of the ground floor rear wing showcases finely moulded mid-17th-century cross beams.
