Description

Regil Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse, restored in 1979. It is built of squared and coursed rubble with large flush dressed stone quoins, stone openings, and copings, topped with double Roman tile roofs. The house has a T-shaped plan, two storeys and an attic. It comprises a three-window range set at right angles to the road and a rear wing parallel to the road. The main range has two-light windows with ovolo-moulded mullions, those on the ground and first floors with continuous dripmoulds. Ground floor windows also feature flush relieving arches. Two upper windows are situated in the gables, each with a hood mould. A lean-to porch is located in the angle, containing a partially glazed 19th-century door. Two single-light attic windows are set into the roadside gable end, also with flat hoodmoulds. The parallel wing has two four-light windows with ovolo mullions to the ground and first floors, and a two-light mullioned attic window. There are two end stacks, one rendered and one of stone. A later outshut extends from the side of the rear wing. Inside, the ground floor room on the left has a fine stone fireplace with a peaked shape, decorated spandrels, and a projecting overmantel. The ground floor room within the advanced wing has a depressed 4-centred arched fireplace, and the entrance hall has flagstone flooring.
