Description
The barn and cart shed attached to Shute's Farmhouse is an early 19th century structure with a later addition. The barn features coursed Lias stone walls, with brick at the rear, and has a pantile roof that includes a small gable facing the lane, along with a loft door located towards the right end. It is a single storey building with a loft, and the central part of the wall is recessed to accommodate large sliding barn doors, which have a wide segmental head made of voussoirs. The barn doors are made of planks and are set in head and foot runners.
The cart shed is located at the north gable end and is a later addition to the barn. It is constructed of brick and has two segmental arches for entrances, along with a central brick pier. There is also a loft above the cart shed.
