Description

Osmington House is a large house situated within grounds, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The house is constructed of dressed Portland stone with rusticated and part vermiculated stone quoins. A prominent ashlar plat band runs between the two storeys. The roof is slate, gabled, with wood cornices, and stone stacks are located on the side walls and at the rear of the main block.

The south elevation has seven windows arranged in a pattern of 2:3:2, with gabled end bays projecting forward from the central block and linked by a stone screen. The windows are sash windows with thin glazing-bars and crown glass, stone cills, keystones, and lintels. The first-floor windows are Venetian. The side walls, two storeys high and with four windows, feature sashes of a similar design.

The front door, positioned on the right side of the east wall, is a 20th-century wood door with three recessed panels. It is set within a stone porch supported by coupled Roman Doric piers and columns, topped with an entablature and balustrade. A rear service range is attached, constructed to match the main house, with a plat band, two storeys, and four windows containing sashes with ashlar jambs.
