Description
Strongate Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the early 18th century. It features rubble-stone walls and has one brick sleeper buttress on the right side of the front. The roof is thatched with gable ends and there are brick stacks at both the left and right gables. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, which are three-light metal casements with lead lights and wooden cills, topped with stone arch-voussoirs. There is an outshut beneath a continuous catslide thatch roof, which serves as a dairy and cheese loft. The front door, located at the centre, is a plank door from the 19th century, and there is a brick porch with a pentice slate roof, also from the 19th century. The interior includes a fireplace with brick jambs and a wooden lintel, dating back to the 18th century.
