Description

This is an early 18th-century farmhouse located in Netherbury, Lower Strode. It is constructed of rubble-stone with a slate roof, featuring stone gable-coping on the right-hand side and a projecting hipped roof on the left. There are brick stacks on the left-hand ridge (two) and right-hand gable. The farmhouse has two storeys and three windows, originally featuring thin stone mullions with ovolo profiles; these have been replaced with 2-light and 3-light metal casements in the 20th century. The left-hand bay of the house projects and dates to the early 19th century, with sash windows containing glazing-bars. The front doorway is centrally located, with moulded stone jambs, a pulvinated frieze, and a moulded cornice above. The 19th-century flush-panelled door has two top lights. The front garden is enclosed by rubble walls with stone copings, and features square ashlar piers at the corners, topped with pinnacles, dating to around the 18th century and later additions.
