Description

Barn Cottage and Cart Shed Cottage form a pair of cottages converted from farm buildings at Whiteway Farm, likely dating from the 18th century and altered around 1980. The cottages are attached to Valley Cottage on the east. They are constructed of rubble stone with slate roofs and stone eaves courses, featuring a stone stack. The buildings have an L-shaped plan. Cart Shed Cottage is single-storey, while Barn Cottage is one storey with an attic. Barn Cottage retains one stone mullioned window. The west wall of Barn Cottage features a 20th-century ledged door with a side-light, and the east wall has a range of four glazed doors. In Cart Shed Cottage, a 20th-century ledged door with a side-light is located in the north wall, and the east wall contains a range of four glazed openings. The cottages are included in the list for their group value and are mentioned in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments' record number 22 (Dorset Vol II).
