Description
Whiteway Farm House is a detached farmhouse dating from the late 16th to early 17th century. It features rubble stone walls and slate roofs with stone eaves courses and coped gables, along with stone stacks that have moulded caps. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the rear wing being of slightly later construction. It is two storeys high and includes an added gabled porch with ornamental bargeboard. The inner doorway has a 4-centred arch, and there is a similar doorway to the west that is now blocked. On the ground floor, there is one 2-light and three 3-light stone mullioned windows, while the first floor has three similar 3-light windows. The west ground floor room contains a stone fireplace surround with a 4-centred arch, and there is a large open fireplace with a bread oven at the north end of the rear wing. The building was under repair at the time of the survey in 1984.
