Description
Malpas Hill Cottages are a pair of cottages dating from the mid-18th century, with a 20th-century addition to the rear. They are constructed from thinly-coursed limestone rubble and feature a pantile roof. The cottages are two storeys high and have a total of three windows on the first floor. Each cottage has a door framed in bonded ashlar. The central window and the outer windows have casements with horizontal glazing bars set in square-faced surrounds, which were probably originally mullioned. The window on the far right has a lowered sill, and the first floor windows are similar. There is a brick stack at the eaves to the left of the centre, and the roof has raised verges with brick end stacks. Each end of the cottages has a single-storey addition; the one on the left has a door to the left of a window, while the one on the right features a window to the left of garage doors. At the rear, there are blocked slit vents that may indicate the original use of the building as a barn.
