Description

The Church of St. Mark is a parish church built around 1900, designed by C. Hodgson Fowler. It features red brick, ashlar, and a timber frame with plaster infill, topped with a tiled roof. The eaves overhang is supported by wooden brackets, and there is a single red brick stack on the northeast side along with a bellcote on the west. The church is set on a red brick plinth with ashlar quoins.

The chancel and nave share a single roof, and there is a north porch and a north vestry. The west end has a prominent window with four arched lights, above which is a similar window with two lights. In the apex, there is a lozenge-shaped window. The west porch contains a two-light window, while the east side features a doorway with double wooden doors. The north wall has a window with three arched lights, and the west vestry wall includes a doorway with a wooden door. The north wall of the vestry has a two-light window and a doorway with a wooden door to its left, while the east wall features another two-light window.

The east chancel has some ornamental panelling and a single quatrefoil light in the apex. The south front displays two windows with two arched lights and, to the left, four windows with three arched lights. All windows are framed in wood, with wooden mullions, lead glazing bars, and flat arches. Inside, there is a canopy over the altar and a decorative roof truss. The church is included for its group value.
