Description
Earl's House is a mid-18th century house located on the south side of Main Street in Oldcotes. The building features a rendered exterior, likely over coursed rubble, with chamfered stone quoins and a pantile roof. It has two yellow brick stacks at the rear, with stone coped gables and kneelers. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, designed in an L-plan with the right gable facing the road.
The front facade includes two pairs of glazing bar sash windows with ashlar surrounds on both levels. Above these, there are two similar pairs of sashes and surrounds, along with a central, slightly lower, 20th-century casement window in a matching surround. At the rear, there is a doorway with a rusticated surround and a slightly projecting hood. To the right, a 20th-century glazing bar bow window is present, with a 20th-century casement above it. The projecting wing features a pair of glazing bar sashes, with a single glazing bar sash above. All sash windows have ashlar surrounds. To the left of the main structure, there is a 20th-century single storey, two-bay extension.
