Description

Cobb Cottage, part of a row of coastguards' cottages on Cobb Terrace, is a mid-19th century building, likely dating to around the 1850s. It was probably the residence of the chief coastguard. The building is two storeys high and originally had ten window bays. It has a gabled slate roof and a colourwashed rendered front. The first floor features two-light casement windows with small panes, some of which have shutters with diamond-shaped panels. Modern outshuts are present on the ground floor. Some of the cottages have four-panelled doors. Cobb Cottage, together with the other listed buildings on Cobb Terrace, including Undercliff, Theos Cottage (Nos 6 and 7), and Westfield on Cobb Road, is designated as a group due to their collective architectural and historical significance.
