Description
Devonia is a detached town house built in the late 18th century. It features an ashlar stone front with a chamfered plinth, stone quoins, a modillion cornice, and a parapet with its own cornice. The building has two storeys and attics, with four sash windows that have architraves, projecting keys, and stone cills. The front door, located on the south (rear) wall, is made of wood and has six fielded panels. The rear wing has dressed stone walls up to approximately nine feet, with brick walls above in Flemish bond and a brick plat band. There is a sash window with a segmental brick arch above it and thick glazing bars.
Inside, the left-hand room on the ground floor features fielded panelling throughout, a dado rail, and panelling below, along with a moulded cornice. It has six-panel doors with original brass door furniture, double shutters, and window seats. The doors throughout the house also have fielded panels. The inner hall has a flagstone floor and a staircase with turned balusters and panelled sides. There is a small cellar with brick and wooden stud partitions. The roof construction includes high collars and two sets of through purlins.
