Description
Elsa Chapman is an attached house with shop premises dating from the 18th century. It features ashlar stone walls set on a stone chamfered plinth. The building has a stone dentil cornice with a fillet beneath it, and a slate roof with stone slate eaves and stone gable copings. There is a renewed brick stack on the left-hand gable. The house is two storeys high and has two windows, including a large canted bay on both the ground and first floors, which contain wooden sashes with glazing bars. The front door is located on the right side at ground level; it is framed by half-columns with Tuscan capitals and bases, and has a triglyph frieze above. A moulded cornice steps out over the side orders. The reveals of the door are fielded-panel with a square head, typical of the 18th century. The door itself now has four lights but was originally panelled.
