Description
The White Hart Hotel is a mid-19th century hotel located on Hogshill Street in Beaminster. It features walls made of lias ashlar stone and a slate roof with projecting eaves. The building has three brick chimneys positioned at the left gable, center right, and right gable. The ground floor is part-rusticated and includes quoins, with plat-bands at the springing level and between the ground and first floor. The hotel has three storeys and four windows, along with a lower range on the right side. The windows are large sashes with flat, semi-circular, and segmental heads, and feature large, projecting stone keys. Two of the ground floor windows are tripartite, while the first and second floors have flat, projecting surrounds for the tall sashes. The left center bay projects outward and includes a segmental-headed carriage entrance with a projecting stone balcony above. There are two round-headed windows on the second floor. The front door, located in the right of the center bay, is a wooden four-panelled door with a segmental fanlight above. The rear of the hotel is constructed of rubble and includes a continuous wall along the back lane that extends for 25 yards.
