Description
The Robinson Memorial is a memorial dedicated to Elizabeth Julia Robinson of Parnham, dated 1906. It was erected by Vincent Joseph Robinson in the same year. The memorial is designed in the style of a covered market-cross and is constructed from ham stone ashlar. It features a stone slate pyramidal roof with stone copings at the hips and Portland stone pinnacles on the corner buttresses and central apex. The structure has a square plan with four open sides, each featuring four-centred arches supported by moulded and straight-chamfered jambs. Above the arches are hood-moulds with ogival heads and recessed paterae. The diagonal buttresses have two set-offs leading to square shafting topped with pinnacles. The central column is square with a chamfered stone plinth, and the memorial is accessed by two steps leading to an octagonal flagstone floor.
