Description
This ice house, located about 30 metres south-south-east of Barton Hill House, likely dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features stone walls that are partly rendered, along with a red brick elliptically-arched barrel vault. The rectangular chamber measures approximately 3.3 by 4.8 metres. There is a curved brick entrance tunnel on the north side and an access hole for loading on the north-east side. The floor is made of stone flags, but the chamber is now partly filled with earth. The entire structure is underground and covered by a low earth mound, and the entrance is currently also buried.
