Description
The Anchorage, located at 52A Bell Street, dates back to 1615. This building features a front that was modified from the 18th century to the early 19th century. It stands two storeys high with two windows and has a higher frontage compared to No 52, while sharing a similar ridge-line and a common stack with it, as well as an additional stack at the right-hand end. The roof is gabled and tiled. The front is made of stone rubble with a plinth. The windows are three panes wide, and the entrance is situated on the east side, facing Victoria Street. It has a six-panelled door within a frame, with the top two panels cut away, and is topped by a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. The Anchorage is part of a group that includes Nos 42 to 52A (even), No 1 Victoria Street, and Nos 2 to 8 (even) Barton Hill.
