Description

The Second World War memorial is located in the Garden of Peace. It is a three-sided structure made of brick and timber, topped with a plain clay tile pitched roof, resembling a shelter. The gabled roof features vine carvings on the bargeboards. There is an open doorway with a pointed-arched head and incised spandrels, above which the dates 1939 and 1945 are inscribed on a horizontal rail. On either side of the doorway, stone tablets list the names of the seven men who died. Inside, the back wall displays a wooden sculpture of the Crucifixion by Loughnan Pendred, which rests on a stone base inscribed with the words: THY SIN IS MY PAIN.
