Description

River Cottage is a cottage that originated in the 17th century and was enlarged in the 18th century. It features plastered cob walls, a thatched roof, and brick stacks. The building is one storey with attics. The entrance has a ledged door with a glass panel. On the ground floor, there are five casement windows, one of which has glazing bars, while the others are modern. The attic includes five half-dormers with casement windows. There are single-storey extensions at each end made of concrete block with corrugated asbestos roofs. Inside, one ground floor room has a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and jambs, along with a bread oven. Some ceiling beams are exposed and chamfered.
