Description

Appletree Cottages, likely built in the 18th century, consists of two sections. The southern section features walls made of stone, flint, and cob, with brick details, topped by a thatched roof and a brick chimney. It has a two-room layout, is one storey high with attics, and includes a ledged door in a timber porch with a slate roof. The ground floor has two horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars, while the attic contains two dormers with similar sash windows. There is a later extension to the south, built with cob and stone walls. Inside, the main ground floor room has a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven, along with one exposed chamfered ceiling beam. A lead pump is located against the front wall.

The northern section may be a later addition, featuring stone walls and a slate roof, with a shared brick chimney with the southern section. This part also has a two-room layout but is two storeys high. It includes two ledged doors, one in a timber porch, and the ground floor has one casement window with glazing bars. The first floor has two horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars.

Additionally, there is a garage building made of vertical split logs with a thatched roof, along with a small outbuilding of similar construction.
