Description

The Studio is a former collection of three cottages that has been converted into one house. The northern cottage dates back to the 17th century, the central cottage is from the late 17th to early 18th century, and the southern cottage is from the 18th century.

The north cottage features brick and cob walls on a stone base, with a thatched roof and brick stacks. It is one storey high with attics and has a two-room layout. The entrance has a ledged door, and the ground floor includes two casement windows with glazing bars. The attic contains two half-dormers fitted with horizontally sliding sashes and glazing bars. Inside, the first floor has been removed from the northern section, creating an open space to the roof. There is a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven, along with a plank and muntin partition on the first floor. The roof is constructed using jointed cruck techniques, and there is a later stack at the southern end.

The central cottage has stone walls, a thatched roof, and a brick stack. It is also one storey with attics and has a two-room plan with a cross-passage that has been altered. The central entrance features a ledged door, and the ground floor has two casement windows with glazing bars. The attic has two half-dormers with horizontally sliding sashes and glazing bars. Inside, the south room contains a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven, as well as remnants of a "proving" oven that is partly located in the south cottage. There is a later lean-to addition at the rear, constructed with brick and flint walls and a corrugated asbestos roof.

The south cottage has cob walls, a thatched roof, and a brick stack. It is one storey high with attics and has a two-room layout. The entrance includes a ledged door and a later glazed door. The ground floor has one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars, and the attic features two half-dormers with horizontally sliding sashes and glazing bars. Internally, the north room has a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven. There is also a lean-to addition at the rear made of brick and flint with a corrugated asbestos roof.

At the back of the property, there is an attached stable building with brick and stone walls and a thatched roof, featuring a ledged "stable" door. The overall appearance of the property is pleasantly "unrestored."
