Description
No. 101 Silver Street is a house located at the end of a row in Sutton Poyntz, originally listed as No. 99. This building dates from the early 18th century and was raised and had its windows altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a brick chimney stack and a thatched roof. The cottage was once part of a continuous thatched row, although the adjacent buildings to the north were rebuilt in the late 20th century.
The house is one-and-a-half storeys tall and features a one-window front, with all windows being small-pane early casements. On the front facing the stream, there is a two-light eyebrow dormer above a three-light window, and to the left, there is a plank door. There is also a blocked door opening further left. The left gable, which has a square chimney stack, includes a two-light casement with a concrete lintel on the first floor and a wooden lintel on the ground floor. The profile of an earlier roof level is visible on this wall, indicating that it was originally a very small cottage. At the back, there is a single light window. The interior has not been inspected.
