Description
The Mill House is a detached house located in Sutton Poyntz, Weymouth. It was built in the mid-18th century and restored in 1992. The house is constructed from coursed and squared Portland stone with rubble returns, and it has a slate roof. It is situated immediately south of Sutton Mill and backs onto a stream, with the mill leat running across the front in a culvert.
The building is two storeys high and features a symmetrical façade with three windows. The windows are 12-pane sashes set in flush moulded boxes, with stone voussoirs and wooden sills. The entrance has a six-panel 19th-century door located in an arched opening with brick dressings. There are two gable stacks and a ridge stack to the left of the entrance. The left gable is plain, while the right side has a parallel rear range that includes a small 2-light 18th-century window in the gable on the first floor, along with three 2-light windows at the rear. A lean-to addition with a slate roof fills the internal angle facing the stream. The interior has not been inspected.
