Description
Blue Shutters is an early 19th-century cottage, though it may incorporate earlier fabric, situated in Sutton Poyntz, near Weymouth. The cottage is attached to a larger house and sits close to Sutton Mill. Its appearance suggests it was reduced in size when the adjacent house to the left was built. Constructed of rubble with a thatched roof, the main range runs parallel to the stream and forms an L-shape with a rear wing. The upper floor features a small square light with four panes, along with two two-light casements with small panes, all set within slight eyebrows in the thatch. On the ground floor, a two-light casement sits below a wooden lintel shared with the flush four-panel 19th-century door. To the right of the door is a two-light horizontal sliding sash window. A gable stack is located to the right of the cottage, and a thatched eyebrow casement is present on the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
