Description

This is an early 19th-century detached house located on West Hill in Charminster. The walls are of rubble stone, with the front wall rendered and painted. The roof is a combination of corrugated iron over thatch and corrugated iron on the north end gable. A 19th-century brick stack is situated at the right-hand gable. The house is two storeys high with two windows facing the front. It features canted bay windows on both the ground and first floors, each with 19th-century casement windows. Below the ground-floor window is a recessed panel arrangement painted with a diamond, rectangle, and diamond design. The front door, situated on the left side at ground level, has two recessed panels and two top lights and dates from the 20th century. The house occupies an unusual position on a bend, with its side walls not at right angles to the front wall.
