Description

Gloucester House is an earlier 17th century rubble stone house that features an early 19th century chequered brick front. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a stone tiled roof. It includes a large west end wall stack, a ridge stack, and one dormer with a cambered head. The early 19th century brick front on the south side is two stories tall with a parapet and has a four-window range of glazing bar sash windows, complete with gauged brick window heads. The entrance door has a hood supported by slim brackets and is next to a small later projecting bay.

On the north front, the house is roughcast and stone, featuring a central stair gable with three-light stone mullioned windows on the first and second floors. There is one window range on each side of the gable. To the left, there is an early 18th century projection with a hipped roof and a thick barred sash window on the first floor, set in a beaded plain stone surround. To the right, the wall extends to align with the central gable, containing one 16-pane sash window above and an iron casement with leaded lights below. At the west end, there is a rear wing with a large rubble stone end wall stack and a four-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor. A modern extension is located beyond this wing.
