Description
Romney House is a house built around 1820, featuring a roughcast exterior on brick. It stands three stories tall and has a moulded stone parapet and a stone plinth. The front of the house includes two full-height canted side window bays, which have broad glazing bar sashes and narrow side-lights. There is a glazing bar sash in the centre of the first floor, while the second floor has a blank opening. The central door is framed by a moulded architrave and topped with a fine open dentil pediment supported by brackets. The door itself is a six-panel design with an arched head and a radiating bar fanlight. To the east, there is a two-storey wing that features a large carriage arch with a keystone and original doors, along with one glazing bar sash above. The rear of the house is made of chequered brick, and there are later brick outbuildings. Number 19, known as Little Romney, is part of the same range.
